Giovanni Moriani was born on November 19, 1957, in Civitanova Marche (MC). After graduating from high school with a scientific diploma, he began his career in 1977 as a Systems Engineer, and in 1978 he joined the SeSa Group as Head of the Systems Department. From 1983 he held the role of Sales Manager at SeSa, the new IBM Agency. In just a few years, SeSa became IBM’s main Business Partner for the AS/400 market.
In 1995 he took part in the creation of Multivendor Service, launching in 1996 the product SIGLA++, a management software for small and medium-sized enterprises distributed under the IBM brand. In 1998 he founded Computer VAR, immediately taking on the role of President, a company born from the partnership of some of the most important IBM agencies at the time: Gruppo Apra, Gruppo SeSa, Infordata, Polymatic, Scao, and Sys-DAT.
In 2002 he developed the project “puntoe”: a franchising network bringing together 26 first-level distribution companies, 15 second-level companies, and 35 Competence Centers across Italy. In 2005 he established the Computer Var Group which, thanks to major acquisitions, grew its turnover from €60 million to €110 million.
In 2009 he played a key role in the creation of Var Group S.p.A., of which he is currently President. As of April 30, 2025, Var Group boasts a turnover of €875.7 million, with widespread coverage in Italy and operations in 16 countries worldwide (Italy, Albania, Andorra, Austria, Benelux, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Mexico, Romania, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Tunisia, and the USA).
