Matteo Succi, known as Svccy (Ravenna, 1997), is an Italian digital artist and graphic designer. His passion for visual art began in 2016 when he started creating his first images using Photoshop with the technique of digital collage art. Later, he began experimenting with image processing through 3D graphics programs
Svccy follows an artistic path inspired by the visual movement Vaporwave, an aesthetic that emerged and developed between 2011/2012. The genre is characterized by the use of nostalgic themes from the 1980s and 1990s, computer and video game console operating systems, Roman busts, abandoned shopping malls, elements of Japanese culture, all accentuated by shades of purple/pink.
In contrast to the classic images of this genre, Svccy tends toward a darker and introspective variant. His images reflect the human condition in today's society. The human figure is often represented by faceless or object-covered statues, symbolizing the total lack of an individual's identity, subjugated by technology and ultra-consumerist society. The reality in which humans live is inauthentic and unreal, based on behavioral patterns imposed by mass media. Lifestyles are controlled through fashion and advertising, making us believe we live a free and self-determined life when, in reality, it's just an illusion. The promise of shaping a unique identity is given, but a single model is actually imposed for conformity in a serial manner.
He engages in a dialogue between the physicality of physical artwork and the animation of NFT artwork, demonstrating exceptional technical skill.
