Fabio Giampietro
Fabio Giampietro is considered one of the pioneers of immersive art, thanks to his virtual reality installations that transcend the “tangible world,” definitively connecting it to the “metaverse.” A visionary who never ceases to amaze.
His research blends traditional painting with the most innovative technologies, merging the dimensions of space and time and eliminating the contemplative distance between the viewer’s senses and the reality of the artwork. In 2016, Fabio won the Lumen Prize Gold Award. His works have been exhibited in major Italian museums and galleries around the world.
Among his most recent works are the immersive installation “THE LIFT” at the MEET Digital Culture Center in Milan; AIORA, an interactive swing exhibited alongside works by artists such as Refik Anadol, Krista Kim, and renowned masters like Escher, Boccioni, de Chirico, and Piranesi in the exhibition “Ipotesi Metaverso” in Rome; and URBAN SINGULARITY, a painting and installation project exploring the concept of singularity applied to architecture, featuring impossible geometries and post-human urban visions.

Urban Singularity – XR, 2025, video
A video artwork that reflects on themes of urban singularity and the transformation of the contemporary landscape.
It is created from a selection of paintings from the artist’s most recent production, in which the city of the future emerges as an organism in constant mutation, where architectural and topographical rules give way to impossible geometries, toroidal structures, perspectival implosions, and spatial tensions generated by non-human forces.
With the aid of artificial intelligence, the video stages a process of continuous metamorphosis between one artwork and another, as if the painted architectures were evolving, adapting to an ever-redefining environment. It offers a hybrid vision that merges painting, digital technology, and architectural imagination.
